Washington Photo Safari, a member of the Washington DC Convention and Tourism Corporation, teaches the basics of travel photography by taking tourists and local residents on half-day and day-long photo shoots around Washington DC's monuments, while a professional architectural photographer gives them guidance on such areas as composition, exposure, interior photography without flash, and outdoor portraiture. Safari prices are just $74.00 for a half-day workshop, $129.00 for a full-day, and $54.00 for special "walking safaris" in specific "photo-op" neighborhoods or tourist areas. Group rates and gift certificates are also available.
Itinerary of Morning Half-Day Workshop:
9:35 AM - Meet at Renwick Gallery, 17th St and Pennsylvania Ave NW (Metro Stops: Farragut North, Farragut West). Orientation;
10:00 AM - Photo shoots: Renwick Gallery, Lafayette Park, White House, Eisenhower Executive Office Building,
11:00 AM - Transportation to Einstein memorial, 22nd St and Constitu
12:30 pm - Transportation to Union Station. Photo shoot: National Postal Museum, Union Station (exterior and interior). Final wrap-up, questions and answers;
1:00 pm - Photo safari ends at Union Station (Metro stop:Union Station);
Optional: lunch with safari instructor at Union Station.
Itinerary of Afternoon Half-Day Workshop: (Wednesday only)
2:00 pm - Meet in front of Old Town Trolley desk, inside front entrance of Union Station (Metro stop: Union Station), Orientation. Photo shoots: interior and exterior of Union Station, Thurgood Marshall Judiciary Building, National Japanese- American Memorial;
2:15 pm - Transportation to Adams-Morgan district. Photo shoot: Adams-Morgan storefronts, restaurants;
3:00 pm - Transportation to National Cathedral, Wisc Ave and Woodley St NW, Photo shoot: National Cathedral, exterior and interior;
4:00 pm - Transportation to Iwo Jima Memorial, Rosslyn. Photo shoot: Iwo Jima, Marine Memorial, Netherlands Carillon, view of DC monuments; Final question and answer session;
5:00 pm - Transportation to Rosslyn Metro station.

Specialized Reduced-Rate Walking Safaris
Washington Photo SafariTM can arrange reduced-rate 3-hour walking safaris for people or groups with interest in photographing a particular location, such as Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian Castle/Sculpture Garden areas on the National Mall, White House/Lafayette Park area, or the monuments at the Lincoln Memorial-Reflecting Pool area. Cost is only $54 per person (minimum group size: 7 persons).
Group photo safari charters can also be arranged in cooperation with the Old Town Trolley and DC Ducks. Cost is negotiated, based on itinerary.
